Ver en YouTubeThis will be the deepest dive in the south ridge of the west RFZ study site. This dive will explore a 1 km-long seafloor sector along the 4326-4314 m isobath on the southern RFZ ridge wall within the West RFZ study site. Characterize the seafloor seascape and biodiversity along the 1-km transect, and collect e-DNA (water and sediments), representative fauna, sediments and rocks. Some target animal groups are: holothurians, cold water corals, sponges and associated fauna. The ROV transect must be done with a pre-defined altitude and camera angle. After ROV stops for close up images and sample collection, it must return to these pre-defined parameters to resume the transect. The ROV will stop and land for sample collection (pushcores, rocks, animals, water) upon request by the lead scientist.
